I understand that your child is the most valuable thing in your life. Because of that, I take my responsibility of ensuring the safety and well being of your child very seriously. In order for your child to learn they must be in a safe and caring environment. Before we do anything we must first do that. Secondly, of course we are in school to learn. I want students to leave my classroom at the end of the year with a love of science, a love of learning, and a better understanding of how their world works. My third objective is to have fun. I think students learn better in a positive atmosphere. I want to have a classroom where students look forward to attending and are excited to learn. These three simple concepts ( 1) safety 2) learning 3) fun are the backbone of my classroom throughout the whole year and are the basis for the development of the classroom curriculum.
I have been teaching for 25 years, this is my 26th year of teaching (27 if you count my first year out of college that I spent as a substitute teacher). All but one of those years has been at Jenkins. I graduated high school from nearby, but now nonexistent, Dorton High School. My wife Lisa graduated from Jenkins and we have one son, Jacob, who attends school here at Jenkins Middle High School. I graduated from Morehead State University and got my Masters degree from there too. I also received a Rank I certification in Instructional Supervision from the University of the Cumberlands. I have a love for technology and have served as the school technology coordinator ever since I started working here. I love teaching science and look forward to continuing my career at Jenkins. It is going to be a great year!
